Rail–Cruise departing from St Pancras & Ebbsfleet

Join us for a Rail-Cruise to the best ports on the eastern Mediterranean. Aboard the Louis Majesty you will find a casual and friendly atmosphere, warm Greek hospitality and attentive service. During your cruise there will be a variety of activities and fun things to do, but it’s entirely up to you to decide how you wish to spend your time on board. Either way, the staff (English-speaking) will always be there to attend to your every need and make sure you enjoy a memorable holiday. The cruise itinerary offers a complete destination experience, combining famous highlights with lesser-known gems.
The holiday starts with a Champagne check-in at St Pancras (not available to passengers joining at Ebbsfleet) before an afternoon departure from St Pancras International & Ebbsfleet to Paris (around 2.25 hours). We then transfer by coach (45 minutes) to our hotel, the Mercure Gare de Lyon, adjoining the station we will depart from in the morning. The next morning we join the TGV to Marseilles (just over 3 hours) then a short coach transfer to the port to join the Louis Majesty for our our 12-night cruise.
During the cruise, relax and watch the world go by, enjoy great food and entertainment, and venture ashore at the numerous ports of call, including: Valletta, Alexandria, Port Said, Ashdod, Limassol, Heraklion, Naples & Genoa*.
At the end of the cruise we disembark in Marseilles and transfer to the station to join the TGV to Paris, then Eursostar to Ebbsfleet & St Pancras International, London.
* Adverse weather or sea conditions may prevent the vessel calling at scheduled ports.
Itinerary: Day 1 – London⁄Ebsfleet - Paris
Afternoon departure from London & Ebbsfleet on Eurostar to Paris. Coach transfer to our hotel to check-in.
Day 2 – Tuesday: Paris to Marseilles
Depart Paris in the morning on the TGV for Marseilles, arriving early-to-mid afternoon. Short transfer to the port to join the Louis Majesty, which sails at 17.00hrs.
Day 3 – at sea
Day 4 – Valletta, Malta
07.00 to 13.30 – Valletta appears on the horizon like an elaborate sand castle. Within its walls are the riches of the crusading Knights of St John, who fled here from Rhodes in 1530 and amassed great treasures of art before they were ousted by Napoleon. Optional excursions: Mosta, Mdina & Rabat; Valletta city tour.
Day 5 – at sea
Day 6 – Alexandria, Egypt
13.00 to; 19.00 – The second largest city in Egypt, Alexandria, known as ‘the Pearl of the Mediterranean’, has an atmosphere that is more Mediterranean than Middle Eastern; its ambience and cultural heritage distance it from the rest of the country although it is actually only 225 km from Cairo. Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, Alexandria became the capital of Greco-Roman Egypt, its status as a beacon of culture symbolised by Pharos, the legendary lighthouse that was one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Optional excursions: Alexandrian Highlights; Cairo Overnight.
Day 7 – Port Said, Egypt
06.00 to 21.00 – Egypt is an extraordinary country where one can experience the overwhelming profusion of art and architecture accumulated from centuries of successive dynasties. Optional excursions: Cairo, Pyramids & Nile Cruise; Saladin Citadel, Sakkara & Bazaar.
Day 8 – Ashdod, Israel
07.00 to 19.00 – Ashdod, the fifth-largest city in Israel, is an important regional industrial centre and Israel’s largest port, accounting for 60 percent of the country's imports. Optional excursions: Jerusalem & Bethlehem; Tel-Aviv & Jaffa; Dead Sea & Masada.
Day 9 – Limassol,Cyprus
07.30 to 13.00 – Limassol is the second-largest city of Cyprus. Located in Akrotiri Bay on the island’s southern coast, Limassol is renowned for its long cultural tradition. A wide spectrum of activities and a great number of museums and archeological sites are available to the interested visitor. Optional excursions: Limassol city tour; Ancient city of Paphos.
Day 10 – Heraklion, Crete
13.00 to 18.00 – Heraklion is just three miles from the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 and partially reconstructed, the elaborate palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. Optional excursions: Heraklion - a Taste of Crete; Heraklion, Elounda & Agios Nikolaos.
Day 11 – at sea
Day 12 – Naples, Italy
08.30 to 14.30 –A bustling port in southern Italy, Naples is famous for its robust cuisine and for its inhabitants’ zest for life. Nearby are the extensive ruins of Pompeii, an ancient Roman city destroyed by a volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Optional excursions: Naples Panoramic Tour; Naples & Pompeii.
Day 13 – Genoa, Italy
10.00 to 19.00 – Birthplace of Christopher Columbus, Genoa has a long and proud history as one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean. The rejuvenated waterfront is home to an outstanding maritime museum and aquarium. The city has the second largest medieval quarter in Europe with superb examples of gothic architecture, perfect for an afternoon stroll. Optional excursions: Genoa City Tour; Portofino.
Day 14 – Marseilles to London
Return to the bustling port of Marseilles. Disemabark after breakfast and transfer to the station to join the TGV to Paris, then Eurostar for the return to Ebbsfleet & St Pancras International.
